DAYS BACK PACKERS BREAKTHROUGH

DAY
1:
NAIROBI - ABERDARES
Leave the city in the morning for the Aberdares National
Park. This Forested Park is known
for the rare bongo, the melamistic leopard, forest hog and many other
peculiar species of wildlife. Dinner and overnight at campsite or cabin
in the forest.
DAY
2:
ABERDARES
Accompanied by
an armed ranger this day is spent walking through the forest. The vegetation
and the birdlife are worthy of attention as we trek through the dense
and dark forest pathways with the tantalizing element of danger lurking
in the background. Picnic lunch in the forest and dinner at campsite/cabin.
(those who wish can use this day to go trout fishing in the rivers that
flow from this mountain refuge).
DAY
3:
MOUNT KENYA
After breakfast
we drive to Mt. Kenya for a night at Mountain Rock Hotel Bandes/Campsite.
The day is occupied with a visit to the Mau Mau caves or just watching
the birds that are plentious at this base of Mt. Kenya climb. Dinner and
overnight at campsite.
DAY
4:
SAMBURU
Leave early
for the Samburu Game Reserve. Picnic lunch en-route. Afternoon is spent
viewing the large variety of wildlife that is found here. Dinner and overnight
at campsite.
DAY
5:
SAMBURU
A full day spent
trying to trace the gere`nuk (or antelope giraffe), the somali ostrich,
the oryx, the reticulated giraffe and Grevy's zebra amongst the many other
animal species found here. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
DAY
6:
SWEETWATERS - NARO MORU
Leave after breakfast
for Sweetwaters. Morning is spent viewing game, lunch at the Luxury Tented
Camp and afternoon is occupied with either camel trekking or watching
chimpanzees at their only sanctuary in Kenya. Overnight at Naro Moru Campsite.
DAY
7:
NAIROBI
Proceed after
breakfast for Nairobi which is reached in time for lunch.
